Lead-acid battery tool maker CMW has introduced two new battery finishing products to improve end of the line efficiency.
The first offering is a six function machine which can perform battery post alignment checks, post brushing, high rate discharge and high voltage checks along with “needle marking” (engraving) on either battery posts and cases, or if the customer requires, both.
The machine needs only a single operator, who is prompted through set up and operation through a series of icons on a touch screen.
The written information can be presented in any language but with the on screen symbols, it is possible for non-readers to be trained to use the machine.
“If the customer chooses, they can specify as little as two of the operations to be performed but of course having the six function machine represents better value,” said Michael Wipperwurth, demonstrating the operation for BBB.
The first machine will be delivered to JCI in China next month.
The second new machine is a fully automatic AGM battery acid filler, which is accurate down to 0.3% of filling volume and can fill up to six batteries a minute. While vacuum fillers are not new, the unique property of the CMW design is that vacuum is applied both inside and outside the battery case, so the structure does not deform in the process step.
Said Wipperfurth: “We can eliminate damage to both the internal and external structure of the battery. Not only is the machine speedy and accurate but it occupies less than two square metres of floor space.”
