This is an example of two temporary batteries used in the field during testing operations. Each is 120 volts but can be configured as a single 240 volt system when needed. Certain site circumstances require such a battery be connected to the dc system while the battery being tested is out of service to cover the need for backup power. The VRLA battery set in a utility trailer, along with the needed charger, switchgear and cabling is pretty common in the electric utility industry.
