The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is releasing a draft regulatory guide addressing the size of large lead-acid batteries.
The guide includes design requirements for stationary batteries in nuclear power plant full float operations, which are acceptable to the NRC staff.
The new regulation will include updates on methods for defining the DC load and for sizing lead-acid batteries to supply DC power to applications during the full range of operating and emergency conditions.
